Warwick Castle

Earlier on this year a group of Y7s went to Warwick Castle and it was a very nice trip.

Highlights of the trip:

1
The tallest tower had 100 steps up and then down, after the trek up, we all could not find our legs and at the top the balcony went out and there were railings on the floor, and you could see straight down!

2.
Well the last highlight was the dungeons, and that freaked us all out as at first we saw a dummy of a man in a monk suit and then a projected face appeared and freaked us all out and then when we were given a fright when a woman jumped at us from the chair!!!

Warwick castle was a very good trip indeed and thank you to Ms. Babudu and Mr. Cook for organising the event!!!

See you all!!!!!

Smashing Sports Day

Hi again, It's Dapo here and I am back with my second blog. Well in my opinion I can't wait for Sports Day because I know it's going to be an exhilarating day although there are a tiny number of people who disaggree with me because they think it's so tiring but I just think they are lazy bones. I think I am going to win all the events I am in, just joking, I am just going to do my best and I hope you do too, and in the spirit of the aforementioned Sports Day I am going to tell you some sports jokes
1) How do athletes stay cool during races
Stand near the fans

2) Why is it so windy during sporing events
Because of all the fans

3) If an athlete gets an athlete's foot what does did the angel get
Mistletoe

4) What do runners do when they forget something
They jog their memory

5) Why couldn't the athlete listen to music
Because he broke the recored

And ebidibiebidiebidibi that's all folks.

Engineering Trip

On Tuesday this week, 20 students from Shene school were selected to go to York house and work with the Army in an Engineering Challenge. We had 2 hours to design and build a mini buggy. We were given a specific amount of materials and each material cost a certain amount of money and we had to come up with the most effective cost buggy, that actually worked. My team came 1st, as we made the most sufficient buggy; within the budget. We all got an award and the school received a glass shield for our good work.

New Opportunities

We've had such a busy week, that we almost forgot to mention a great opportunity that was given to some year 9 & 10 students.

Celebrating the 110th birthday of Richmond Theatre, a group of volunteers were running a creative writing workshop for schools all over the borough. We were lucky to be selected! The workshop involved creating a 2 minute radio bulletin in just half an hour. We were bombarded with new news every minute! We had a brilliant time and had an experience that many of us will never forget. After an hour of madness, which showed us just what it would be like to be a news reporter, we finally presented our short news reports. This was then followed by a congratulation of excellent effort and thanks from all the student. A few of us even grabbed the chance given to all of us to take part in creating a play, celebrating the birthday of Richmond Theatre, every Saturday morning. Only ten from the whole borough will be selected and it will be showing in the Summer, we can't wait! Maybe we will see some Shene Stars on the stage!

Update

We've recently had a lot of exams so we apologize for not posting you with news from Shene School ! However, we now seem to be back on track and hope to update regularly.

At Shene School we are excited to tell you about the Jack Petchy Speak Out Challenge which was held two weeks ago for a number of year 10 students. It was a very good experience, and many of us gained the knowledge of how to capture people's attention using the power of words. It was a full day workshop, involving a number of activities that helped us to improve our confidence, courage and ability to speak in front of big, public audiences effectively. At the end of the day we all had to give a 2 minute speech about anything of our choice that we felt strongly about! There were to be 6 finalists. Who are now going to be speaking live in a year 10, morning assembly on the following Wednesday. Good luck to Audreyce, Niiko, Josie, Sophie, Shahab and of course Lujain! We will update next week about how it goes!
